DaedhirUI 2.0 Released!

It's finally done. I hope it works. ;)

Get it here.

Install instructions are in INSTALL.txt, confguration in CONFIG.txt. Configuration is heavily simplified from previous versions of the UI.

Enjoy, and make sure to back up your original UI, just in case.

I have high hopes for this. I haven't gotten it to work yet, but the pics look amazing! The Reflux default seemed to totally bugger things up. Still seems like it will be great as soon as I get it running.

Daedhir said...

Make sure you do /reflux switch Default, not default.

The caps matter!

Daedhir said...

I've uploaded the archive again with a statement in the config file about this.

Trunks2560 said...

Yeah, I just figured that out. It works and looks great now. I"m really impressed. The only small complaint I have is that I can't quite seem to find where combo points for rogue/druids are. Been messing with things for a bit but can't quite figure out how to turn them on. Other than that, simply an amazing job. I had my doubts but it looks and plays great.

Daedhir said...

Hmm, don't have a rogue, so I didn't mess with those.

They should be available in the PitBull4 options. Do /pb4 and then click on the "PlayerTarget" layout profile. This controls only the player frame. Disregard the name...

Then click on the "Indicators" tab. There should be an option here for enabling the combo points. You'll have to resize them and place them in a good place on the unit frame, which is pretty straightforward.

I'll try to fix this when I get a chance and upload the changes.

Daedhir said...

Okay, after some more investigation, it looks like this is a problem with PitBull4. I can't seem to connect to wowace.com at the moment to find out if it's a known problem.

I'd suggest just keeping your eyes peeled on the wowace PitBull4 page so you can see if they have a new version of the addon. I'll do the same.

Trunks2560 said...

Just thought I'd stop by and say that the new UI is amazing. It looks and works amazing and other than the Druid combo point issue, its performed beyond my expectations. Great job!

Marko said...

You UI looks fantastic :-), unfortunately i like to tinker with my UI to much to just install a package like this one :-) But you almost make me reconsider. Any thoughts on using Pitbull 4 already? Works so much easier than 3!

AwSam said...

I'm having a problem where I can't load this UI by default. I've tred /reflux switch Default (with the capital D), but it's not loading. Is there something I'm missing?

Spy Chef said...

I cannot seem to figure out how to move the frames. I have a hard time seeing things that are so small on my screen (I keep my chat on 18). Where do I look to move the "blizzard" ui (where my spells go) and the two boxes on the right and left? I want to make things a little bigger so I can see them. Thanks.

Isma said...

im downloading it right now, but i wanted to see how it looks in a raid environment got any images available?

Daedhir said...

@marko: Yes, I definitely like Pitbull 4. The configuration is pretty streamlined, and it only took me about an afternoon to get everything moved over from PB3, including doing all the border textures. And hey, if you want to try out my UI, all you have to do is back up what you already have. You can always delete mine when you want. ;)

@Sir Trekie: I'm not sure I can answer your question without more detail as to what's going wrong. Do all of the AddOns show up in your addon list when you start up the game? Maybe if you can provide me a screenshot (on photobucket, or imageshack or something similar) I can be more help.

@Janice: Unfortunately, the center frame with all of the spell icons is actually three different Dominos bars, tweaked to fit into the background texture. Making it bigger isn't such a simple task. If you want, I can provide details on how to do it, but it's honestly not for the faint of heart.

@Isma: I'll try to make some good raid images in my ICC raid this Wednesday. Not much is different from the Party screenshot though, except of course the BigWigs bars, which I've put off to one side of the screen. Incidentally, updating BigWigs tends to reset all of the preferences for that addon, so it usually requires moving the bars again. The version of BigWigs in the UI is fairly current, although I hope to have an update out soon to address this issue and a couple of other small ones.

Thanks for trying it out, everybody.

Is there a way to fluff up the size of the floating combat text as pertains to the damage done to the target? I tried scaling the text in SCT and PitBull, but neither one made the floating yellow text bigger. I like the font all right, but I need to see my damage in BIG flashy numbers.

Also, is there an easy way to scale up the DoTs present on the current target so I can get easier visual cues of what I need to refresh in a movement fight?

Generally this is extremely impressive, though.

Daedhir said...

The floating yellow damage text is the gdFont addon. Try disabling that and see if it looks better. With that addon, it's really easy to change the font too by just changing the ttf font. Just poke around in the directory in Interface/AddOns/gdFont.

As for the DOT timers, I assume you're talking about the small bars on the combat log. That's ClassTimers, and the config is available in the Interface config menu. It's pretty self explanatory -- you can move the bars wherever you want, and make them bigger or change the colors.

Daedhir said...

You can also look at the auras on the target frame in the pitbull 4 config. Type /pb4 to get to that. You should be able to scale those up substantially, and I think you can filter them so that only your debuffs show up. I haven't messed with that.

Coach Killilea said...

Hey buddy every time I try and d/l it, I can do it. But then when I am trying to uncompress it, I get a loss of encryption and nothing gets uncompressed. So I just need a few pointers, sorry buddy I am new these giant UIs. It looks AMAZING

Roland said...

Can't get it to work.
D/L the package, unziped the files, copied the folders to my wow folder, read the install.txt, renamed the accoun, server and character folder and started Wow.

Everything is in a jumble in the middle.
Copied the reflux command from the config.txt and pasted it into the chat window. Nothing!

Checked the add-ons where in the add-on list, out of date was checked on (just to be sure), still nothing.

Updated all the add-ons, still nothing.

Kimber said...

Looks great man, thanks. My first forays into using pre-packaged UI's went badly; this was a piece of cake. All I changed was tweaked Tiptac so it acted like TinyTips usually did for me (hovering tips).

Unknown said...

I just can't figure out how to move the castbar..thats the last thing that bugs me, otherwise i totally love your UI
^^

Daedhir said...

@Greg: I'm sorry, I have no clue why it's not unzipping for you. What OS are you running? If it's windows, which version?

@Roland: Could you upload a screenshot somewhere so I can see what your screen looks like after doing "/reflux switch Default"?

@d.setz: The cast bars are done using Quartz. You can access the options by typing "/quartz", or you can also get to it by right clicking the FuBar at the top of the screen.

Avalon2099 said...

I really enjoy the addon, its smooth and doesnt explode my screen. I am having one issue with it however.

I find that when I log in, my chat windows are all reset to the default lower left corner, and combat isnt hidden so it explodes over the general chat whenever I activate abilities or go into combat. I find myself putting it manually EVERY log-in over in the bottom right, is there a way to make it save where I want it to stay? Ive tried locking it, making it non-interactive and everytime its back in the bottom left.

Daedhir said...

Steve, I've seen this happen once or twice, but definitely not every time I log in! I'm not sure I know what the problem is.

I'd probably try docking the combat log with the chat log, then quit the game. Then come back in, move the combat log again, and then restart the game again. See what happens.

Definitely a strange error.

Daedhir said...

By the way, you shouldn't have to do the reflux switch thing but once. I doubt you're doing that every time you log in, but you never know.

Unknown said...

Where can i snag the gdfont? couldn't find it on wowinterface or curse.

Anonymous said...

Really nice UI. Kodus too you! I haven't tried it long enough to know if its an error in the chat (they can't seperate unless I type "/reflux switch Default"), but other than that it works really well. Never stop your hobby ;)

Unknown said...

I'm sooo close.

At this point it's just little things.

I'd like for my own health bar to be green. I can't see the battleground icon when I queue to see how much time....

Daedhir said...

@Dale: gdfont is included in the UI. Just go to Interface/AddOns/gdFont and you'll see the fonts directory. The one that's used for the damage font is called "SKURRI.ttf". You can substitute any font for this. There are a bunch of other ones in that directory that you can rename to SKURRI.ttf and see if you prefer any of those.

@Patamon: You can configure that in the pitbull4 options (/pb4 in the chat box.) The layout used for the player frame is called PlayerTarget. You can modify all kinds of stuff there.

Coach Killilea said...

Responding to your question, I run windows 7. Never had a problem before with anything. Thanks for the help

Erdrick said...

@Greg: I was trying to get this set up on my wife's machine (Running Vista) and for some reason it wouldn't unzip with the default unzip utility correctly. So I went and picked up 7Zip and used that and everything worked fine.

@Daedhir: Love the UI man. It inspired me to drop my old one and put in the effort to learn this one. Liking it a lot so far, until I got into a 5 man last night and started trying to heal. I used to use Healbot with click casting and so I had Clique installed to work with Grid to duplicate that functionality but the Grid panel's positioning is so far displaced from the middle of the screen that it's almost unuseable. Your screenshots show it just below the middle of your screen in previous posts when raiding so I was wondering if you have it set up to move around when raiding and if so, how can I tinker with that to move it when in a party? Ideally I'd like to set it up to be in center/lower/middle as a healing or tanking profile (When tanking, I'm using it for group aggro monitoring and click casting taunts) and leave it upper left when DPSing.

Something else that I was considering tinkering with was adding pet frames to the party interface. I got it working in Pitbull easily enough, but I'd like to keep the look consistent and preserve all the effort you put into the UI. So I'm guessing it'll just be a matter of essentially duplicating/scaling the party kgpanels that are attached to the pitbull party frames and attaching them to the pitbull party pet frames?

Thanks for a fantastic, beautiful, and professional looking UI!

Daedhir said...

You can move the Grid panel by dragging it anywhere on the background panel/border area. I move it out of the way when I'm playing a DPS or tanking role. It's not locked to the screen in my config.

As for the pet party frames, what you said is pretty much right. You can see how I did the party frames in kgPanels and that should give you an idea for how to do it. The same textures should work if you use the same layout. Alternatively you could duplicate the player's pet unit frame, which is a bit more streamlined than the party frames.

LOVE this UI. I had been using my own pieced together thing and had numbers flying all over my screen in battle. This is so much more clean.

One question I have... Regarding the bag and minibar panels in the upper left corner. Is there any way to remove them? I use ArkInventory so I don't need to see all my bags. If I turn them off, they go away but the background panel still remains. Same goes for the minibar. Any way to remove these?

Thanks for a great interface!

Daedhir said...

That's the corner panel in kgPanels. You can either remove it or just set the opacity of the panel to zero.

Unknown said...

OK got it looking the way it should, even fit pally power (my preffered buff addon) to look good within the ui (thank you lord for opacity options!). Now my only problem is that the buffs and debuffs looks like the default UI within buffalo3. how do i get them to look the way you have them set up?

Daedhir said...

Buffalo 3 has been acting a bit squirrely.

First, try looking at the ButtonFacade options. That should allow you to configure BF for specific addons. Choose Buffalo 3, and then set the theme to Dek.

If that doesn't work, try explicitly loading the Default profile in the Buffalo 3 options. You might not see anything immediately, since Buffalo3 seems to be throwing errors on switching profiles. But it should straighten out if you /reload the UI.

I have everything figured out except the silly health bar. The rest looks great. I added DoTimers, Quartz, and our guilds EPGP mods.

We raid tonight, I'll let you know how it goes!

Unknown said...

Got it! time to tweek things to my tankadin's needs! Great ui pack

Erdrick said...

I was hoping that maybe I was missing an automatic solution to the Grid moving (Something along the lines of a mod that detects "Oh, you're in a party, then apply THIS layout" or some such... Maybe I need to start researching this problem and write a mod...) but just manually moving the frame around per char works too. Thanks =).

Looks and works great... too bad the text is soooo small on my MacBook Pro's screen. :( I still get an average of 25fps though.

Rebo said...

Hi Daedhir,

Thanks for work on this sweet UI. I do have one question though. Is there anyway to move the borders for the two bottom chat outlines and the one in the middle where the spells buttons go? When I load the UI they are partially of the screen. I've tried different screen sizes but that doesn't help. I know you can move the chat and the buttons themselves, I would like to move up them up so the fit within the outlines.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

You can type:

/kgpanels config

Then, drill down the "Active Panels" category. The "ChatBorder" and "CombatBorder" are the two you want to pay attention to. Click on one of them, select "Unlock", and now you'll be able to move those two windows as needed.

Anonymous said...

I forgot to mention there are two other categories under "Active Panels" you'll need to select and move.

In addition to "CombatBorder" and "ChatBorder", you will also need to move "Chat" and "CombatLog" panels.

Rebo said...

Thanks Nawtyman,

I just remembered too that the Objectives click icon is in the middle of my map in the upper right hand corner. Is there a way to move the objectives clickable down too.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Anonymous said...

To fix this, right click on the minimap, which should open the configuration for SexyMap. Make sure the main category "SexyMap" is selected on the left, and on the right, check the box "Show Movers".

This will give elements on your UI a movable frame, including the Objectives area. You'll be able to move it wherever, but it doesn't seem like you can re-size it.

Daedhir said...

Blizzard is providing the option to resize the objectives frame in the patch that's currently on the PTR. Just FYI.

saw it on wow.com and even though my monitor isn't widescreen, i really wanted to make it work. here's the finished result if you'd like to see it.

really great job on this ui. i've never downloaded one before, but it was too good to pass up.

Unknown said...

I am a total beginner, using addons from wowmatrix and curse client. Everytime I download and extract (->Interface->Addons) I end up with a file of 0 bytes.

Should I not extract anything? Keep it as a folder?

Daedhir said...

I'm not sure what you mean about extracting the folder.. You should be downloading a zip file, which should give you some folders when you extract it. You then copy these folders to your World of Warcraft folder.

Is this not clear in the INSTALL.txt file?

AwSam said...

Hey, Daedhir. This is Sir Trekie, from before; changed my screenname on here.

I've got a screenshot of what's going wrong: I've already typed the /reflux switch Default, in this session. You can find it at http://twitpic.com/15ybc8. Thanks!

Daedhir said...

Sir Trekie: This looks like something has gone wrong with the installation. All of the addons are in their factory default states, and that shouldn't really be possible.

I'd suggest reinstalling the UI, making sure you do every step exactly as it says in the instructions. That's unfortunately the only advice I can offer at the moment. Sorry.

Erdrick said...

Still playing around with the UI and still thoroughly enjoying it =). Got to my DK and I'm wondering, is there any support for Runes other than the *tiny* little icons above the player frame? It seems like something ClassTimer should handle but I can't figure out how to make it show rune cooldowns for the life of me.

Thanks!

Daedhir said...

You might try MagicRunes. I was using that, but switched to the PitBull ones.

I generally just watch the cooldowns rather than the runes.

Justin said...

I love the look of this UI, but to be honest I'm overwhelmed with the amount of individual configuration needed by each. Do you have a post detailing your own settings that I've missed? I'd love to just have a cookie cutter template to get everything organized & similar to the photo I saw that convinced me to download the UI & then eventually tinker with them one at a time.

Unknown said...

Hi Daedhir! I love your UI. The only problem I have is that I am VERY new to custom WOW UIs and barely know how to edit these mods the way I want them to (though that comes with practice lol). I do have a bit of a major problem though. I really like how you have the ability buttons laid out and I noticed Dominoes is included in the pack.... but when the UI loads up, the custom art you use in your pictures does not come up. It looks just like normal Dominoes without the added artwork you have (the redone gargoyles in the circles and stuff like that.) I just want my UI to look just like yours and I'm having some trouble that's all. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Unknown said...

Hi again... I just reinstalled it noticing where I screwed up. I just copied and pasted certain old files I wasn't supposed to have when I first installed the UI. Everything is perfect. Now I can screw around with the fonts lol. Thank you soooo much for your amazing UI. I had been looking for some kind of UI that implemented parts of the old UI with custom UIs and yours is absolutely perfect. Thank you.

Erdrick said...

Hi, it's me again. This time with a question about Shaman. Any totem bars you recommend that would blend well? I would like to have a totem bar where the class bar goes (seems like a similar analog) but I can't get the Dominos totem bar to be useful at all (it doesn't seem to provide any mechanism for changing the totems in each multicast spell and information on that mod seems sparse at best) or even sit at the right scale. Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

Unknown said...

Wow. Just wow. If you wrote tuts on how to approach the art side of this UI, I'd be eternally grateful.

Daedhir said...

Justin, if you follow the instructions included with the UI you should not have to do any individual configuration of the mods. Please read the CONFIG.txt file included in the archive.

Sean, glad you got everything working. I have a post somewhere on this blog talking about fonts and how to change them out.

Erdrick, I don't really play a shaman, so I don't have much advice for you on that. Sorry. Pitbull4 has an included totem bar, but I agree that it's probably not ideal.

I've been messing around with my UI a lot, so I've been switching a lot of things in an out several times a day.

I have installed and reinstalled your UI multiple times, and have noticed that subsequent installations don't look like the original time I installed. It's like some of the settings are getting saved, even though I'm deleting the Interface and WTF folders before every time I install.

The reason I mention all this, is that when I reinstall the UI and run the reflux command, everything looks like it is loading correctly except the panel for Recount. It's bothering me because I'm not sure what else may not be loading correctly.

Any insights?

Anonymous said...

Problem sort of solved? As soon as Recount measured damage from myself or anyone else in my party or raid the Recount kgpanel appeared.

Daedhir said...

Yeah, that's simply because the Recount panel is tied to the first status bar on the Recount frame. None of the other parts of the frame could be tied to.

By the way, just to let everybody know, I'm switching to using Skada by default. I like it so far.
