DaedhirUI 1.2 Released.

DaedhirUI for World of Warcraft v3.1.

Get it here.

This is a much more lightweight version of the UI than the previous ones.  It should be much faster, and it requires less memory.  As far as I can tell, any slowdown in 25-man raids should be gone.

It's probably the best idea to reinstall the UI from scratch.  I did a complete overhaul and the UI scaling is slightly different from the way I had it.  I hope the instructions are clear enough.  They are enclosed with the UI.

Hope everybody enjoys this, it's working great for me in Ulduar.

Awesome UI that I have used for a long time now, have you however recently increased the resolution up to 1980x1050 or is this just a typo? There are still instances of 1680x1050 mentioned in your instalation instructions and 1680x1050 is my resolution.

Would you be willing to make a few comments about what you do location/placment wise with Grid? I have installed everything correctly, but if I run into a battleground I get a 40 person "box" that seems super unweildy where it is. Do you just move the grid box each time you raid/BG? Or is there some way to get grid to auto size so that the boxes stay in the same place? Love the UI, I'm just trying to get an idea of how you do things. Seems like Grid would take up a lot of room in a 25 man raid as it is currently set up.

Sorry, the resolution is a typo. I'll try to get that fixed.

As for Grid, I mostly run 10-mans, which is why the bars are a little tall. If I enter a 25, I move the frame so that it doesn't obstruct. As for 40-mans, I haven't run one of those in a loooong time.

You'll have to do some tweaking most likely. Mainly just decrease the height of the bars. I think there's a Grid profile you can load called Death Knight, this is basically the default Grid configuration.

Thanks a lot. I always like getting some of the thoughts behind why people set things up they way they did in a UI. It gives me an idea of how people heal/dps/etc and what they find important.

Grid is new for me as I've run sRaidFrames for so long. I keep hearing such great stuff about it, so I"m using this is an opportunity to give it a try. I mostly run 10-mans myself, but I'll do the occasional BG or Emalon run. Good to know you just move around the box. Loved the idea of having Grid and Decursive set up close to each other and in similar rows. I can't beleive I didn't think of that.

This is amazing work and the best of all the versions you have made so far.

P.S. Do you use any Addons for comparing gear stats? Your old version used to tell you benefit/loss of different gear.

Oh, yeah, that was Pawn I was using for gear comparison. I haven't added that back in yet, thanks for reminding me. :)

If you're seriously healing and have a decently fast computer, I'd also recommend picking up grid_quickhealth from Curse. This mod makes the Grid health bars update faster, since the default update rate is a little slow. It can slow down your system a bit if it's not very fast though.

It's also not currently updated, but it definitely works if you check the "load outdated addons" box.

Good to know. Thank you. Yeah, I have a Pally, Druid, and I'm leveling a priest (Disc looks like great fun). All of them are healers:-). I'll look into the other addons.

Looks good. Im enjoying it. Quick question though. You mention uberquest in the notes. But i dont think its included? unless im missing something

Daedhir said...

Yeah, I removed Uberquest and forgot to remove it from the documentation. The new default quest tracker is pretty good, so I switched to using that, Doublewide, and an addon that puts quest levels into the quest log. This was one of the places where I cut the number of addons down.

Daedhir said...

Well, the number of big addons, anyway. ;)

This is awesome.. I now have the type of clean ui I've been wanting. I had the same question about uberquest, but I saw that comment... now my question is how do I get quest tracking to show.. oops nvm.
Big issue for me now is how do i use Grid... Healbot user forever and i'm use to mouse combinations and clicking on each healbot cell... is that the basic idea behind grid?
I know this isn't grid support so... can you refer me to a good place to get an idea of how to use this mod? Thx
.. and once again - totally awesome!

Thanks for the link.. grid and clique have turned out to be fairly easy.. getting ZOMGbuffs to buff has been a completely different story. I can't believe that something as simple as buffing could be made more difficult to configure.. or i'm missing something.. like an intellect buff :)

Thanks for all the help and I'm liking the interface...

One last thing - it appears my casting bar is behind my player frame.. where do I control that? TY

Quartz does the cast bars. It's possible that an alternate configuration was loaded for it. Like most of the addons, there's a "Profile" section under the Quartz config. Make sure it's "Default."

As for ZOMGBuffs, I'm noticing problems with it too, but only on toons that don't have group buff spells yet and only have the single target versions. It should work fine for a level 80 toon, but if you're not satisfied with it I'd recommend you switch to SmartBuff, available on WoWInterface.

I'll try smart buff and check out the Quartz profile.. thanks again.
